Elementary
Beginning in the Fall of 2025, we will incorporate a Loop Schedule on Tuesdays for our Elementary Students. This model is based on the ideas of Sarah Mackenzie, author of Teaching from Rest. Our 15 Elementary students are all in one classroom together. This year, we have students in grades first through sixth.
On Tuesday mornings after Holy Mass, we will have memory work and a dedicated Atrium time each morning for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Level II.
After CGS, the subjects covered will include:
History: The Story of Civilization, Volume II, TAN publishers
Art Study: The Parables Picture Study, Into the Deep
Read Aloud: Classic literature with Socratic Circle discussion
Hymn Study: Hymn Study, Into the Deep
Catechetical Reflection: Into the Deep Catholic Catechesis
In the afternoons, additional classes may include:
Latin
Science
Music
Art
Drawing on the rich tradition of Catholic education handed down from the centuries, we stand on the shoulders of saints and scholars who point us to truth, goodness, beauty, wisdom, and virtue. Bishop Thomas John Paprocki and Dr. Mark Newcomb with the Department of Catholic Education of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois have put forth this tagline:
Integrate, Elevate, Orient
We enthusiastically take these three goals as our own.
Integrate: To integrate all subjects, as all truth comes from God and leads us back to God. Elevate: To elevate topics and teaching to focus on the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. Orient: To orient all things to Christ, as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6)
